Are there any nationality restrictions for the buyers?Who has the eligible to buy a house in Japan?

There is no restrictions on who can buy japan property/house. I think the only time there might be restrictions is if you try to buy one with farm land. Those will require approval from japan local gov't. But I doubt you would want to buy one with farm land. :-D lol.

Check out website www.athome.co.jp or other japan property search sites. Use web browser to translate to english and you can see listings. Try to look for homes that look pretty decent in condition. The challenge will probably be to find an english speaking realtor that want to work with foreigners. There are many realtor websites that cater to foreigners but can cost an extra $5000-$10,000 usb for their services. Also check google maps to see how far it's from main cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto etc. The listings usually will show walking distance to a train station, malls, stores etc.
